Bed Bug Heat Treatments in Phoenix
Bed bugs are tough as nails. Don’t let anyone tell you that they’ll fix the problem for you. We’ve heard lots of stories of tenants and landlords buy consumer grade extermination products and trying their hand at it. It fails every time. Meanwhile, the bed bug colony is growing and growing. The final result is an infestation that is even worse than before.
The only way to get rid of them is with a professional bed bug extermination service. Assured Pest’s bed bug heat treatments have a proven track record of exterminating bed bug infestations in one go. That’s a lot faster than chemical treatments which typically consist of a minimum of two visits over a 21-day period. With the leading exterminators in Phoenix, Assured Pest has built a reputation for consistently successful bed bug extermination.
Hot or Not?
First a few facts. Bed bugs and their eggs will die when exposed to a temperature of 113°F for a minimum of 90 minutes. They’ll also die when exposed to 118°F for 20 minutes. And they’ll die immediately at 122°F.
We use special tools to heat your home or apartment to between 135°F to 145°F. At this temperature, any living bugs and their eggs will die instantly. The trick is that it takes time for that temperature to permeate every surface, every object, and every wall of your house. A typical treatment, therefore, lasts around 8 hours. In some cases, this time may be extended. It all depends on the conditions that we find during our inspection.
Why Heat Treatment for Bed Bug Extermination?
When we do an inspection, we look for any signs or traces of living, dead, and larval bed bugs. Our professional exterminators are experts at finding traces where the ordinary person never would. However, because bed bugs typically live behind walls and inside furniture, it can be difficult to find every last one with an inspection. Heat treatments are designed to penetrate every surface. They have nowhere to go. Nowhere to run. Nowhere to hide.
This is different from pesticide treatments which depend on the bed bugs ingesting the poison. Whereas a chemical treatment will have to be done once to kill all the living ones, and again to kill the ones that have been born since the treatment, heat treatments kill the larva before they’re born. In some cases, using a combination of heat and pesticide is the best solution.
Pre and Post-treatment
As certified exterminators, our job is about more than just killing the existing bed bugs. We also want to stop the spread of infestations throughout Phoenix. To do this it’s important to take a lot of precautions. For example, you must wash all your clothes and fabric items. They must then be dried at a minimum of 113°F for 90 minutes. All your clothes should then be placed in resealable plastic bags. Every time you leave the house it’s very important to ensure that you only wear clothes that you know are bed bug free.
